A Home with Heart: Proceeds from sale of home will benefit CASA of Miami County
CASA/GAL of Miami County and Legacy Design Homes recently held a special groundbreaking ceremony for what’s been dubbed the “Building Hope with Legacy” project.
The net proceeds from the sale of the single-family home being built in the Emerson Crossing community in Troy will be donated to the CASA program.
The home will feature four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a finished basement, and an open-concept layout ideal for modern living.
CASA volunteers and community members gathered for the ceremony as ground was “officially broken” at the building site. Legacy Design Homes owner Todd Denlinger called the moment truly special.

“As we break ground on this house, it’s a reminder that homes are more than just sticks and bricks,” Denlinger said. “They represent safety, comfort, promise, and a brighter future. We believe in building lives, building futures, and building legacies.”
This project hits close to home for Denlinger. During the ceremony, he shared how the CASA program helped in his sister’s life. She was adopted into his family. He said CASA volunteers are truly an extension of his family.
CASA/GAL of Miami County Executive Director Nikki Sherck thanked Legacy Design Homes, saying the generous donation will help the program’s mission to provide dedicated volunteers who advocate in court for the best interest of children experiencing abuse and neglect.
“We have about 60 volunteers in the community who are willing to stand up for a child, so thank you for standing with us and making that possible.” Sherck said.

CASA volunteers are highly trained community members from all walks of life. They talk with the child they’re assigned to, as well as family members, teachers, and others.
“We’ve served children in Miami County for 30 years,” said Sherck. “That’s over 1,500 kids who had somebody else be their voice, had a volunteer who was willing to dedicate their time and effort, and let the court know what’s in the best interest of that child. We are trying to make sure their unmet needs are addressed.”

The “Building Hope with Legacy” home is expected to be completed by December 2025. Denlinger shared a message to its future owner.
“Know that you’re not just buying a home,” he said. “You’re investing in a mission, and your legacy will be felt beyond the walls of this home for many years.”
