Ohio CASA not immediately impacted by National CASA/GAL funding announcement

On April 23, 2025, The National CASA/GAL Association was notified that the U.S. Department of Justice terminated the organization’s federal grant awards. As such, all services funded by these awards will be suspended as of April 24, 2025. These grants were terminated in conjunction with over 365 U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Program award cancellations. National CASA/GAL has stated that it is appealing the award terminations.

Ohio CASA does not receive funding from National CASA/GAL and as such, is not financially or functionally impacted at this time. Ohio CASA remains fully operational in support of Ohio’s 48 local CASA programs serving Ohio’s children facing abuse and neglect in 62 counties. Very few CASA programs across the state are reliant on National CASA/GAL for financial support or other direct assistance. Ohio CASA is actively reaching out to local programs that may be directly impacted. Training resources, quality control measures, administrative and communications support, financial aid, and various other means of support will continue to be provided by Ohio CASA to all local CASA programs and the Ohio children they serve.
