Description

Domestic violence is pervasive and occurs across a spectrum of relationships, people, behaviors, and time; no one abusive relationship will look the same.  This session will review the dynamics of domestic violence, including tactics and types of abuse commonly used to gain or maintain power over victims, with an emphasis on both the short and long-term impacts on parent and child survivors.  Participants will be equipped with Trauma-Informed, Victim-Centered strategies to promote safety and access to services as well as community resources to best assist families.

Leah Stone, MSW, LISW-S – Registered Advocate, Training Director, Ohio Domestic Violence Network

Leah Stone serves as the Training Director at the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, where she has worked since 2021.  Leah facilitates, organizes, and presents trainings to advocates and allied professionals across Ohio on a wide array of topics related to domestic violence advocacy including safety planning, survivor-centered advocacy, technology facilitated abuse, and ethics. Drawing from a decade of experience and the wisdom gained from survivors, Leah has expertise in trauma-informed care, shelter advocacy, crisis intervention, support group facilitation, and trauma-focused psychotherapy.
