Description
This video offers an overview of post emancipation services available to young adults 12-18 who have aged out of foster care in Ohio. The presentation begings with a discussion about final transition planning requirements and considerations for youth in foster care. Ms. Levels also provides an overview of Ohio’s available post-emancipation services such as Medicaid coverage until the age of 26; the Ohio Education Training Voucher (ETV) which offers grant money to attend college; Young Adult Services’ post-care services and supports that are offered through the county public children services agencies; and, Bridges, a state-administered program offering support services to emancipated foster youth who meet eligibility criteria. Finally, the audience is provided information that outlines how, as individuals, we each are able to play an important role in supporting former foster youth on their journey to independence.
